Levi grew up in the Sacramento, California area. He accepted Jesus as his savior and attended church regularly from a young age. Levi came to better understand God’s love and His calling on his life after being invited to Calvary Chapel Folsom/Orangevale in high school. Through the mentorship and verse by verse Bible teaching of Pastor Mike Flanders, Levi truly surrendered his life to Christ and began serious study of God’s Word. Levi met his wife, Joy, through a college and career Bible study and has been married since 2008. Levi and Joy have 7 kids: Ruth, Ana, Mordecai, Gwendolyn, Malachi, David, and Phoebe. Levi and Joy worked in ministry together at Calvary Chapel Folsom/Orangevale and eventually became the directors of the children’s ministry there (encompassing all youth through high school). Levi also served on the Calvary Chapel Folsom/Orangevale worship team and taught the discipleship class. In 2015, Levi and Joy began feeling God was calling them away from California. While other incentives were there, they were committed to move only under God’s Will. The door was opened, and they moved to Georgia in 2018. In the beginning, Levi and Joy were unsure what His purpose was for them here, for they had been accustomed to immersive work in His Church. While they were involved in serving as they could, it was not until 2021 that they recognize the guiding hand of God leading them to plant a church. Levi now serves as one of the founding pastors of Word of Life Baptist Church.
